Principle of a Wire Mesh Belt Shot Blasting Machine
2023-12-27

The wire mesh belt shot blasting machine operates on the principle of abrasive cleaning and surface preparation through the following steps:

  1. Loading: The workpieces to be cleaned are placed on a wire mesh conveyor belt, which moves continuously through the blasting chamber.

  2. Blast Wheel Propulsion: The machine is equipped with one or multiple blast wheels, positioned strategically around the blasting chamber. The blast wheels consist of rotating impellers that propel abrasive media, such as steel shot or grit, at high velocity towards the workpieces.

  3. Abrasive Media Impact: As the workpieces pass through the blasting chamber, the blast wheels project the abrasive media onto their surfaces. The high-velocity impact of the abrasive particles removes surface contaminants, such as rust, scale, paint, or oxides, from the workpiece.

  4. Wire Mesh Belt Rotation: The wire mesh conveyor belt moves continuously, and as the workpieces travel along it, they also rotate or tumble, ensuring that all surfaces receive uniform exposure to the abrasive media. The rotation of the workpieces facilitates thorough cleaning and surface preparation.

  5. Dust and Debris Collection: During the blasting process, the dislodged contaminants and abrasive media rebound and are collected in a dust collection system. This system typically includes a cyclone separator, filters, and a ventilation system that captures and removes the dust and debris from the blasting chamber, ensuring a clean operating environment and preventing the particles from escaping into the surrounding area.

  6. Abrasive Media Recycling: The collected abrasive media is separated from the dust and debris in the dust collection system. The reusable abrasive media is then recirculated back into the blast wheels for continued use, reducing waste and optimizing the efficiency of the cleaning process.

  7. Unloading: Once the workpieces have passed through the blasting chamber and undergone the cleaning and surface preparation process, they are discharged from the wire mesh conveyor belt. They can then proceed to subsequent manufacturing operations or further processing.

The wire mesh belt shot blasting machine's cleaning principle relies on the high-velocity impact of abrasive media propelled by blast wheels onto the rotating workpieces. This action effectively removes surface contaminants, prepares the workpiece surfaces for further treatment or coating, and ensures consistent and efficient cleaning results.
